Situated on the sea front just 200 meters from the sea, on the Mar Menor, Where the south Costa Blanca meets the Costa Calida. The apartments are on the 8th & 9th foors of a new nine-storied block. Giving wonderful views. The block is served by two lifts and there is wheel chair access. each apartment has 2 double bedrooms, (one with twin beds). Bathroom with shower & bidet. Lounge/Dining room with double sofa bed and a well equipped kitchen. a balcony with table & chairs leads off the lounge. There is a communal pool set in the grounds. The apartments are our family homes in Spain and are therefore fully equipped. The 9th floor apartment is equipped with air-conditioning; the ones on the 8th floor have ceiling fans in the living rooms and both bedrooms. Each apartment very comfortably sleeps 4 and due to the sofa bed can sleep up to 6 people. Cots and high chairs can be supplied on request. Area Details A haven for Golf, Watersport enthusiast & families. This really is a delightful location and much favoured by the spanish for their holidays, it is possibly for this reason that the area retains so much of it's Spanish charm. If your preferences are for high rise hotels with booming discos, fish 7 chip shops and kiss me quick hats, you would be very disappointed. That apart, I can think of few tastes that would not be satisfied by this richly varied and welcoming regiion.
The Costa Calida, meaning 'Warm Coast' is renowned for its excellent climate and especially warm winters. There are only two real seasons- spring & summer. The area benefits from three different coastlines- the tranquil waters of the Mar Menor, the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean along the La Manga strip and around the cape of Cabo de Palos the stunning rugged coast renowned for scuba diving. The province was recently declared to be the cleanest in Europe due to an almost compete lack of industrialisation and its huge ammount of agriculture. Known as the market garden of Europe.
The Mar Menor is a natural salt-water lagoon. Famed for its health giving properties, (you might like to try the nearby mud baths). It has a temperature several degrees warmer than the Mediterranean. The long unspoilt beaches and crystal clear shallow waters make this an ideal location for children. It is also a haven for warer sports. Water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and scuba diving etc. Devotees have around 25 centres & schools to choose from. Or perhaps you would prefer to take a leisurely boat trip to visit the 5 small islands in the lagoon.
Within hthe hills which back the Mar Menor and just 15 mins drive away, is the world famous 'La Manga Golf' club and sports complex. Open to the public all year round.It boasts three 18-hole championship courses, 7 football pitches used for training by teams from all European leagues, 28 tennis courts, pitch & putt, cricket, squash, swimming pools and gymnasium. There are 2 restaurants & the 5 star hotel with nightly entertainment and a casino. Other courses in this haven for golf enthusiasts and within easy driving distance are Vilamartin, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, Altorreal and the new course La Finca. In fact you could try a different course each day of the week.
The la manga strip, just a walk along the beach or 5 mins in the car away, offers many restaurants, bars, shops etc. and at its tip a suberb new marina with wonderful views accross the Mar Menor to one side and the Mediterranean to the other. Few can resist the chance to swim in two seas on the same day.
To the other side of the La Manga strip is the picturesque fishing village of Cabo de Palos with its superb choice of seafood restaurants. There is also an excellent market held here every Sunday morning.
Along the coast from Cabo de Palos is Calblanque. A natural park of gloriously unspoiled sandy & rocky bays, salt-lakes packed with bird life and rocky peaks.
A short stroll to the other side of the apartments brings you to the lovely, palm backed beaches adjacent to Play Honda. Here there is a small friendly Supermecado, which opens every day. Also a beach bar where you can enjoy a good selection of Tapas.
Further on in the same direction will bring you to Los Nietos, a sleepy, Old Spanish fishing village. From here you can get a train to the historic town and naval port of Cartagena.
Los Alcazares, Further round the bay, is a delightfull Old Spanish holiday town. Formerly a retreat for Moorish kings.
The histeric city of Murcia, the capital of the province,is just 20 mins drive away. Murcia is a truly beautiful City and one of the most diverse regions in Europe. Well worth a visit. This ancient City boasts cultural and architectural influences dating from the Carthaginians, the Greeks, the Romans and the arabs. A great place to shop and for siteseeing the unique hoards of baroque art and architecture. The famous casino is definitely worth a visit if only for the extravagant decor. And ladies do make a point of visiting the cloakroom.
If none of this appeals to you perhaps you would like to join one of the horse riding or walking treks. Or explore off road on a bycycle. And after a delicious Tapas for lunch you could take a siesta on the beach.
For those of you who have the stomach for it the Bullfighting can be seen at its most thrilling in the rings of Murcia & Cartagena.
Whether after a very late night or in the early morning, the sun rising over the Mediterranean and later setting over the Mar Menor, should definitely not be missed.
