Property Details
Villa Rosa is a spacious, well appointed and fully air conditioned, detached villa enjoying a fantastic location on the hillside with fabulous views across Kalkan bay, and about 10 minutes walk from the old town.
You can be collected from (and returned to) the airport by private car or minibus and delivered directly to the door of the villa to ensure a relaxed start to your holiday. A welcome pack will be waiting on your arrival with some immediate provisions and drinking water. During your stay, a cleaning service is provided with a linen change once a week and the pool and garden maintained daily. Our local English speaking agent will be available to give any advice you may need to make the most of your holiday, including local knowledge and details of car hire, boat excursions, and the many day trips available.
The villa has its own private swimming pool and Mediterranean garden with a banana palm, pomegranate, quince, olive and hibiscus roses. There is a large roof top terrace with BBQ and stunning views of the blue Mediterranean. This makes an ideal quiet holiday location but near enough to local amenities when needed. If you wish to hire a car private parking is adjacent to the villa with direct road access.
The villa interior is comfortable and furnished to the highest standard. It is fully air-conditioned and external windows and doors have insect screens fitted and anti-mosquito plugs are available. Constant hot water is provided by the roof top solar panels.
The open plan living area has an ornamental open fireplace, satellite television and a DVD, two armchairs and a settee. There is an outside shaded dining area opening from the lounge as well as the inside dining area. French doors lead from the lounge to the terrace that surrounds the private pool. Overlooking the garden, the terrace is enclosed by a balustrade and for evening dining there are outside lights as well as underwater pool lights. The pool is 1.8m deep and has steps leading down from one corner. The terrace has loungers and parasols.
The kitchen is well equipped with microwave, gas hob and electric oven. There is a toaster, fridge/freezer, and all necessary cutlery, crockery and glasses. Emergency lighting is provided in the unlikely event of a power failure.
The two large bedrooms are on the first floor. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed and the second bedroom has twin beds. Both have dressing tables, wardrobes and bedside tables and open on to the balcony overlooking the pool, garden and the blue Mediterranean, while the master bedroom has a second balcony overlooking the garden to the front of the Villa. Stairs from the first floor landing continue up to the large roof terrace with stunning views to Kalkan bay and the Mediterranean beyond and to the Taurus mountains behind. The brick built BBQ provides an ideal location for an evening BBQ party with views in all directions.
There are two bathrooms. The one on the first floor is between the bedrooms, and has a corner spa bath and also houses the washing machine. The downstairs bathroom has a large shower cubicle. Both bathrooms have marbled topped vanity units with LV down lights over, are fully tiled and have ample cupboard space. Area Details Kalkan is a small fishing port and nestles in a spectacular and picturesque Mediterranean bay in South West Turkey known as the Turquoise Coast. Over the last fifteen years it has become a venue for the more selective visitor. Today Kalkan is a very special place.
The old town with its cobbled streets and old balconied houses hung with bougainvillea combines the ambience of its past, with sophisticated rooftop restaurants adorned with white linen. Eclectic and interesting small shops, specialising in leather, silver and handmade clothes add to its charm. Development in Kalkan is limited by its location in the foothills of the Taurus Mountains and the local authorities that are determined to preserve its special appeal.
The combination of the distinctive Greek architecture, brilliantly coloured bougainvillea and the famed Turkish hospitality make Kalkan a place to fall in love with. In the day, Kalkan is a place to sit at a café or bar and watch the world go by, meander around the town or relax at the beach or harbourside. At night, the town takes on a warm orange glow from the lights of over a 100 restaurants. You never need to eat at the same place twice.
Alternatively, if you are looking for some action there are many guided trips available to the nearby archaeological sites and places of interest. For example you can visit Kekova and Simena, Lycia’s famous sunken city and Crusader Castle, wade in the waters of Saklikent Gorge, Turkey’s deepest gorge or visit the famous 18km long sandy Patara beach and the local Fethiye market, or how about a day relaxing on a Gulet boat trip, visiting tiny bays to swim or snorkel in the beautiful clear blue waters before a tasty Turkish meal cooked by your host on board.
For the more active there are local sporting activities such as water-skiing, parascending, scuba diving, horse trekking, canoeing and hiking trips into the Taurus Mountains.
As Kalkan has not succumbed to mass tourism, it still retains ancient history and warm, traditional Turkish hospitality making it a very special holiday destination and the start of a lifelong romance with Kalkan. Travel Details Car and scooter hire are available locally, but the wide range of public minibuses known as Dolmus depart from Kalkan town to all the local destinations.
